The practice population numbers 11,500 and is 80% white with significant minorities of African, Turkish and Asian patients. We also have a broad social mix ensuring our daily work is varied and satisfying.
We are committed to providing a high standard of Primary Care and believe General Practice is the best setting to receive medical care for everyone throughout his or her lifetime. Our medical records are comprehensive, fully summarised and computerised on the EMIS system. We offer a range of additional clinics including family planning, baby clinics, diabetes, minor surgery and asthma. We are a friendly, supportive team meeting every day informally over coffee to offload after morning surgery and chat. We also hold weekly primary healthcare team meetings.
The practice has a strong philosophy of medical education and personal development. Ruth Marchant has been training GP registrars since 1999 and is married to Richard Woollett who supervises Foundation Program doctors in the practice. Jonathan Kingston was approved as a trainer in 2007 and Jo Long teaches medical students from GKT medical schools. Each trainer devotes a session of protected time every week to teaching and the trainers and other partners are available to support trainees in surgery whenever needed. Out of hours training is at the local GP co-operative, which has regular evenings each month when trainers are on shift to supervise registrars. Registrars and Foundation Doctors each have their own room opposite their trainer and all training rooms are in the same area of the building facilitating mutual support for both learners and trainers.
If you are interested in joining us for your General Practice training we would be delighted to talk to you and arrange an informal visit. Please call Ruth or Jonathan for specialist training/GP registrar posts and Richard for Foundation Program training all on 020 8856 5678.
